Sustainable fining tech disrupting the wine industry

Fining agents are a powerful tool in a winemaker’s toolbox to optimize the sensory of wine. However, the high-volume waste streams generated from single-use fining agents, alongside a labor-intensive racking and cleaning process, renders traditional fining methods increasingly unsustainable.

Tailored sensory without the use of fining agents

Understanding the need for a more economically and environmentally sustainable fining solution, our team of scientists developed amaea PF, a molecular filtration solution designed to help winemakers achieve the sensory benefits of fining – without the need for fining agents.

By removing the use of fining agents, wineries are able to:

  • Minimize racking yield-loss associated with traditional fining processes

  • Significantly reduce high-volume waste streams from single-use fining agents

  • Gain operational and cost efficiencies by removing the need for additional waste management

  • Leverage opportunities for favorable labelling

Low-impact production process using regenerable polymers

Designed for precision, amaea PF uses molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) to selectively capture the phenolic compounds responsible for bitterness and astringency found in wine.

As the wine is filtered, the target molecules bind to the MIPs. Once saturated, the MIPs are regenerated using a wash process, ready to be used again.

The result is a solution which focuses on capturing only what is needed using a regenerable, low-impact production process.

Designed with winemakers for winemakers

Working with a team of winemakers, amaea PF has been specially designed to deliver a fining capability that works for you.

From adjustable treatment rates that enable tailored sensory outcomes, to a wine production system designed for sustainability, amaea PF is fast becoming winemakers’ choice for fining applications.
